i got this from someone on my flist and it just needs to be read by others it is a holocaust story that has never officially been told, and it should be. It needs to be. And if we all read it, and remember it, and pass it on to others, then maybe, eventually, enough of us will know it that it will never be forgotten again.

it seems like it has been forever since i have been on here and even longer since i have posted but i am considering making handmade crocheted items for a profit since i am a college student without a job currently. To whit: LJ's new terms of service (those reflecting fanfiction-fanart)

Our policy on illegal and harmful activity - we take a zero-tolerance stance on these sorts of material:

1. Material which violates United States law

Our servers are located in the United States, and so that means that LiveJournal is subject to United States law. This particular item in our policy covers content that inherently violates specific United States criminal statutes.

This includes threats of physical harm against the President or other executive officers, child pornography (photos or videos), or other material -- including drawings and text -- that explicitly depicts minors under the age of 18 (real or not) in a graphic sexual context. Or, in other words: Romeo and Juliet is okay. Teens talking about their experiences with sex is okay. Smut focused on a twelve year old is not okay.

These laws aren't unique to LiveJournal or even the Internet -- all media and publications in the United States are subject to them, and so we need to make sure that stuff on LJ doesn't violate these laws.

2. Material which encourages or advocates hate crimes, rape, or child abuse or pedophilia.

Stated differently, any material which indicates that these crimes are good or that they should be committed -- none of that is permitted. Effectively, you can't use LJ to promote these activities.

Again, though, we take things in context. If you're discussing the clinical diagnosis of pedophila, if you're discussing your experiences as a rape survivor, if you're discussing the actions that occurred in the Holocaust -- those are all fine. But content such as "Hitler killed millions of people, and someone should pick up where he left off" or "adults should be allowed to have sex with children" isn't permitted.

This should hopefully clarify most of the concerns that were raised regarding the specifics of our policies. As always, we'll be reading the comments here, but we can't guarantee that someone will be able to respond to every one.

CLARIFICATION: Not all content describing underage sexuality is in violation of our policies (or of United States law). Rather, using LJ to distribute "obscene" content (as defined by the Miller Test) is illegal. If it qualifies as obscene, and if it involves minors (people under the age of 18), then it's not allowed.

First off, no fictional materials involving minors have ever been banned under the Miller Test, because such fictional works have been recognized as FICTION you can read the discussion by lj users (consumers!) in the following link, that pretty much put lj's reasoning to shame.

Hey guys,

I am not going to be online much the next few weeks as my computer is being fixed so i will not have a computer for about 3 weeks or so...

Has anyone had a laptop screen hinge just give out? I think mine did today, all i did was opened the computer and i heard something pop and now at a certain point the screen will come slamming down. I am still under store warranty with the computer, is this something that you think that they will fix?

I bought a writing journal to write my stories in and as i am writing "understandings" in it i realize that the story is really full of errors and make me think what was i writing...
So i have my computer which has the re-edited and reworked version of Understandings at Last, but it is not hooked up to the internet...

It is heartbreaking to see the damage in the areas affected[by Hurricane Katrina} and to see all of the people affected, it is sad to say but that area will never be the same again...

I have finally been able to snag some time so that i could start messing with pics so hopefully in my downtime tommorrow and wed i will able to get them done and do the report

It is heartbreaking to see the damage in the areas affected and to see all of the people affected, it is sad to say but that area will never be the same again... Its encouraging to see all of the help that it coming from the people, i have seen several news reports of people spending their money and buying food and going to the affected areas in order to help feed the people. After encountering the 3 hurricanes last year I am so thrilled to see the people helping others after they have helped us. On our local news report they have been collecting money all day, at first the goal was 500,000 now they have surpassed that goal and have just went over the million mark plus they had the concert tonight for the victims and probably raised hundred of thousands if not maybe millions for the victims.

I will post more thoughts about the actors and possibly some pics tommorrow or wednesday... overall it was very good....

John was really suprising i didnt think that his was going to be that fun... Seans was kinda disappointing i expected more.... elijah.... his was really really great, he is sooo well grounded, he came out and took pics of us taking pics and he called billy and dom... his photo op was good too, as everyone would walk to him he would shake hands and say hi how are you.... heee heee heee (i just want to apologize now before i say this as it was one of my big highlights and i will prolly mention it again sorry melawen_c) i then asked him for a hug and he gave me a hug and PUT HIS HEAD ON MY SHOULDER :-O :-O :-)

I found that i really really like Emerald Rose... I went to their website before the convention and i didnt think that i would like them... I went to the concert and well the next day i bought two of their cds... really really cool music... very different than my normal stuff....

So melawen_c and I are off to elf bright and early... I look forward to meeting the other ljers that are going and i will try to take lots and lots of pics... i can hold upwards of 150 on my memory card in my digital camera and have two rolls of film for my regular camera... i will be back on monday on monday with a report from it and lots of pics, hurricane or no hurricane...

It has come to my attention that the colorbars that i have made are no longer showing up... the problem was that the hosting site that i was using is being updated so they are no longer there. all of the ones that i have made have been switched over to photobucket. The only problem with this is that you will have to find you own hosting service so that my bandwidth doesnt get used up. Over the next few days i will be changing the codes to the people that i know took the bars in the past and on the entries where i have posted the colorbars... I knew that there was a reason that i saved the comments that i got back from the bars....
